The Panzerjäger I was Germany's first tracked anti-tank vehicle, created in 1940 as a stop-gap measure to combat more heavily armored French and British tanks. It was built by removing the turret from the obsolete Panzer I Ausf. B chassis and mounting a captured Czechoslovakian 4.7 cm KPÚV vz. 38 (designated 4.7 cm PaK (t) by the Germans) behind a thin, three-sided armored shield.
