The RSO/01 Raupenschlepper Ost (German for "Caterpillar Tractor East") was a fully tracked, lightweight utility vehicle developed by the Austrian manufacturer Steyr-Daimler-Puch in 1942. It was specifically designed to overcome the disastrous performance of wheeled and half-tracked vehicles during the Rasputitsa (mud season) and harsh winters on the Eastern Front.
